Saving Money by Buying Generic Grocery Items

In general, the generic store brand grocery items will be cheaper than the name brand. Here are some ways for locating generic items and saving money:

  • Ask store employees for generic: Ask your grocery store employees if a generic or store brand is available for a grocery item you need to buy. They should be able to help you in locating a generic item if it exists.
  • Compare prices of same item: While you are in a grocery store, compare the sticker prices for the same type of item such as milk. In general, the generic or store brank will be the cheapest.
  • Google search: If you do a Google search for any item using generic or store brand in your search, you may be able to find the generic name of the store brand.

If you follow the steps listed above, you should be able to locate a store brand or generic item that you need. Most generic products are similar to the name brand items in quality; however, they will cost less and save you money.
